This is a service within my real estate practice that started around year two of my business. It is the relocation component of my real estate practice, which I consider inseparable from dealing with the property you live in now, and the next home. It is so because I believe the transitions from one place we live to another is (for everyone) a big deal. There is a tremendous amount of transition on either end of leaving one place and arriving at another. The before and after that is often overlooked since the property transactions themselves are such a big deal.

You know real estate transactions are a big deal. I don’t need to tell you how much money is involved as it’s one of most people’s largest assets. Plus, when it’s handled well, the fees for this transaction are not small. Right? So, you also know it’s important to invest some time in making an informed choice for any professional you choose to hire. The old adage also fits…you pay for what you get.

There is a very large spectrum of service levels and a very large and complex set of tasks needed to buy, sell or even rent a home. As a consumer, you can not be expected to know the level of detail and quality required. Just know the real estate transaction part is a big deal. But…there is more!

What about the preparation – the before & after, which is somewhat disconnected from listing a house for sale or searching for a new home? It, too, is a big deal.  Experience tells me that most people can’t wrap their heads around the magnitude of the before and after. Well, why should you have that insight?

I do this work and experience the lives of other people every day. It’s taken many years and many different life experiences to quickly appreciate that you have a very complex set of needs in terms of where and how you live. And that is why you hire my team of specialists and me right from the beginning. Because we take care of the whole deal, and we do it well start to finish!

For seniors who are downsizing, and our wisest seniors determined to have an “aging in the right place” plan, the Migrate Home relationship can last for years. It shows itself as examples where something must be rushed and examples where we have better control over time.

For people who are younger, and maybe relocating for work, or immigrating to Canada, the process is faster, yet the complexity is still there.  There is a whole team of professionals I bring to bear on the relocation side of our relationship.  Whether young or old, as a team we are dedicated to relocating people – their home, family, and life.  We take care of people, and their needs, end to end.

Some of our senior clients, and their adult family members, are in a particularly challenging situation as time goes on. Families spread all over the world, each living their lives to the fullest. Then there comes the point where Mom or Dad need help because something has changed dramatically. Or, time continues to pass, and slowly the ability to live completely independently as a senior person ends.

So we encourage people to open up the conversations between the generations. To that end, we held our first Intergenerational workshop (virtual webinar) on October 3, 2020. It was called Finding Your Future. It really does take a village to look after ourselves, our young, our elders.

The recording from that workshop will be released in January if you want to hear it. It was fantastic – some really inspiring panelists and great information.

Someone needs to provide the backbone to these long projects with many moving parts and different needs for different individuals. My opinion is there has to be a central character to your story. You are the hero, and there are certainly other characters that play a role in the story you write. Together with my network of professionals, I take on that role through Migrate Home. We start connecting in the planning stage. We handle the real estate and/or rental phase, ensuring that everything is coordinated and smooth end to end.
