Did you ever wonder the criteria the City uses to determine on which streets to provide Leaf Pick up Service? Well, it turns out that if your street is more than 35 years old, and has many large mature trees you win the prize!
If you’ve lived on such a street for a while, you know the drill. But for people new to the area, welcome, and here is how you prepare.
There is a leaf pick up route map below, and also on the Mississauga.ca website via this link
Rain and/or snowfall does affect the schedule so you can stay on top of that using the 311 service for updates. To prepare, leaves are raked to the curb or the ditch a day or two before your collection week. The system used is like a big vacuum, so please make sure other debris is not in the pile (no wood, sticks, bricks or garbage). Keep the road and curbside storm drains clear of the leaves – cover those up and we can be in big trouble this time of year.
If you miss your day, start using the yard waste bags and fill them up. The Region of Peel picks up yard waster on your regular trash collection day up until mid-Decemb
