What a great kick-off session where our first hour flew by with short introductions and a couple of insightful comments from each panelist.  This has been winding up to be a truly great educational series.  Watching the first segment is a must-do since expectations and opportunities become apparent.  Each Registrant received a copy of the Webinar PDF Tool called THE CONVERSATION MAP which has a series of thought-provoking questions for participants to use in their own time and help build internal family conversations.

FEBRUARY 24, 2021 (SEGMENT 2 OF 5)  MIKE WADE – ELEVATE DESIGN-BUILD and KIM (son of Barbara) – MIGRATE HOME CLIENT

This was a very compelling session with the two panelists of Mike and Kim.  We were joined by a couple of our other series panelists (Margot McWhirter, Jeanette Bock, and Foti Hatzidemitriou).

Mike wiped away fears about renovation talking about how trust is established, what prospective clients should expect from a quality General Contractor in terms of project management.  Kim, who also has a take on “project management” got real with us on his experience supporting his mother’s intent to stay alone at her large detached home as long as possible.  This was a compelling piece of time with Kim, for whom we are grateful for his transparency, insight, and reality of challenge which can also find opportunity.  From both men, we learned so much.

Speakers and Panelists at the Renovating to LIVE Webinar March 3rd 2021MARCH 3, 2021 (SEGMENT 3 OF 5)  EMILY MISZK – PORT CREDIT MORTGAGES and HEATHER MACDONALD – MIGRATE HOME

Another action-packed hour of good information, diving deeper into how to finance (find the money) renovating a home regardless of reason, and how to leverage your return on investment.  The consistent message was that money and lifestyle are connected.  Further, that if we string together our professional team on the money sideAND the renovation design side we get the best solution for our individual needs.  So next week we really showcase that opportunity for the renovation side.
When it comes to renovations specific to accessibility, we still have to get the money together for the work.  Yet in some cases, people will qualify for support by way of income tax credits or some level of government grant subsidy. This underlines the other two key messages from last night – 1) each situation is different, and 2) the financial professionals are your best advisory source on the money side to figure out the total financial impact and benefits.
We look forward next week to having Melissa Tossell, Sanura Design, AND Foti Hatzidemitriou, Concept2Build with us for their in-depth presentations and discussion on Renovating for Accessibility.  So we switch from the money question, to put the emphasis now on the renovation design side of the plan and the professionals that collectively create success.  Melissa will talk about the other professionals that she ensures have input to her designs for accessibility.

MARCH 10, 2021 (SEGMENT 4 OF 5)  FOTI HATZIDEMITROU – CONCEPT2BUILD and MELISSA TOSSELL – SANURA DESIGN

Accessibility in our home can easily become a priority. Tonight we have answers that will surprise and amaze you.

Design and Build for Accessibility was the topic at tonight’s segment. Foti and Melissa knocked it out of the park with great content.

Another action-packed hour of good information, diving deeper into how to design intelligently and build for accessible spaces in your home.  The consistent message was to think ahead if possible and put a good team around you.  The panelists for tonight Foti Hatzidemetriou and Melissa Tossell provided so much great insight and detailed advice.  Along with Margot McWhirter who contributed a lot too since Occupational Therapists should always have a role when we’re talking about comfort, safety, and accessibility.  So next week we really showcase that opportunity on the physical care inside your home wherever you live – now that we’ve renovated your space. ;- )

We look forward next week to having Margot McWhirter, Inclusive Aging, AND Jeanette Bock, Home Care Assistance with us for their in-depth presentations and discussion on Choices and Insights – Aging in Place.   So we switch from the renovation question, to put the emphasis now on the choice we have for aging gracefully in one place.

MARCH 17, 2021 (SEGMENT 5 OF 5)  MARGOT MCWHIRTER -INCLUSIVE AGING and JEANETTE BOCK – HOME CARE ASSISTANCE

Aging well, aging in place, renovating to live, migrate homeThe final content-rich, compelling segment of the 5-week series Renovating to LIVE completed last night. Margot McWhirter and Jeanette Bock round it out in style with priceless insights and advice for adult children and their parents – as a team and individually – planning a good path to aging gracefully.  Two of our other panelists Emily Miszk and Melissa Tossell who presented in earlier segments also joined us last night.  Thank you to all our wonderful guest participants in this special Webinar Series.  We hope you will share the word about Migrate Home and the amazing professionals associated with my business.

There is so much to learn from this segment – don’t lose out.

The key take-away messages were:

  • Navigating health systems and residential options is complex.
  • Have the Navigators that are also knowledgable Advocates. This group represents those elements in all aspects of your life as it relates to where and how you live.
  • Communication between family members must start “early” and will be paramount to success.
  • Think ahead to your best life because you will live long.
