Life by DESIGN not by DEFAULT

by | Jul 18, 2026

Moments of perspective, clarity, joy, curiosity, and courage. Each of us needs motivation to act.  What creates motivation?  A leading factor will be emotion because Emotion = Motion”.

Acting strictly on raw emotion is not a Life by Design.  It is a Life by Default.  Is that good enough for you and your family, or your closest friends?  Say NO, and NO.

In the last article, Action Trumps the Words, I promised to discuss how to navigate and choose the best housing when daily life becomes less independent.

Changes in health, mobility, and sense of well-being will create emotions.  In fact, a whole array of emotions.  Some, like fear and denial, are kept to yourself.  Denial is a coping mechanism.  It can involve NOT acknowledging reality or denying the consequences of reality.

That is where family, friends, and professionals can be a great help.

You, a friend, or your parent may be experiencing these changes.  The question?

Whether to let life happen to you (or them) by default or choose the opportunity to embrace DESIGN.

In my work, I choose to support DESIGN because my influence must lead to a match between home and lifestyle.  Working with purpose avoids the potential of excess expense, loss of equity, or stress and crisis.

My principal role is two-fold.  1) to help people make decisions most beneficial to them, 2) to prepare and sell a property, or purchase/rent the right property.  I build a custom team for each situation.

A hand-picked team is diverse and situation-dependent.  Let’s start your journey with information that helps engage in conversation.  I love the book by Sue Lantz, Director, Collaborative Aging!

Sue is a navigational expert and educator in the aging journey.  I have a few copies of her guide: OPTIONS OPENThe Guide for Mapping Your Best Aging Journey.

I have applied my skills to the business of real estate and relocation for 17 years.

I help people think clearly about the decisions that shape their lives.  Home is one of the places where those skills matter most.

I help people move from uncertainty to confidence – without feeling rushed.

Over the years I’ve gathered the skills, experience, and perspective needed to support this philosophy in practical ways.
What matters to you, matters to me.
That philosophy naturally shaped the way I chose to build my real estate practice.
Originally from BC, I’ve moved around enough to understand that moving is rarely just about a house.  It’s about change, loss, hope, and new beginnings.
